Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad has been ranked as the best performing institute across India, according to Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) Report 2024

Focusing on global university performance, the Center for World University Ranking (CWUR) was established by Nadim Mahassen, in 2012. For evaluation of ranking CWUR utilizes seven performance indicators including quality of faculty and quality of education. It assesses more than 19000 universities worldwide and declares the top 2000 universities’ list. Headquarter of CWUR is UAE.

IIM Ahmedabad was found in 1961 with the help of Harvard Business School.  IIMA is Asia’s first to offer a one-year full time MBA for professionals. It acts as incubator for various government projects such as UIDAI that powers Aadhaar. It also holds “The Red Brick Summit”, the prominent annual business summit.

Kamla Beniwal, the first woman minister of the Rajasthan passed away at the age of 97. She had served seven time as MLA also remained chief minister of Rajasthan, Governor in Tripura, Gujarat and Mizoram.

Sristhi Khandagale, an Indian gymnast has made history by becoming first ever Indian to win a medal at the 6th Asian Trampoline Gymnastics Championships, held in Hong Kong, China which shows her extraordinary talent and dedication to sports. However, she has not secured first place to win gold medal she has won silver medal. The gold medal in Women’s Individual Age group category has been secured by Kazakhstan’s Dolgopolova where bronze went to S Hung of Hong Kong.

During this Lok sabha elections, over 350 people obtained Indian citizenship the newly advised Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), 2019. The first 14 people received it in Delhi and the remaining were approved their nationality digitally in various parts of country.

On March 11 , the center informed rules to implement the CAA. The law allows eligibility to be Indian citizen to Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, Jain, Parsi and Christian migrants from the three countries with Muslim-Majorities Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan (who entered India prior to December 31, 2014)

As per government, in these three Muslim-Majority countries, six religious minorities have encountered persecution, building it moral responsibility of India to offer them shelter.

 For this, on July 15, 2016 the Citizenship Amendment Bill was presented in the Parliament, which aims to amend the 1955’s Citizenship Act.

The Rajya Sabha passed the bill on December 11, 2019. After approval of bill in Rajya Sabha, there was police-student clash on December 15, 2019 due to forcible police entry at Jamia Millia Islamia University Campus. Challenging CAA appeals filed in Supreme Court during December 19, 2019- January 2020. After this in February collective violence breaks out in Delhi. March 2020 Shaheen Bagh vacated as Covid lockdown begins. In December 2023, Amit Shah revives his commitment of implementing CAA ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha election. During March 2024, centre notified rules for implementing CAA. First citizenship certificate given to more than 350 people in May 2024.

HDFC Bank has launched India’s first premier virtual credit card partnered with Visa. Pixel play credit card is having unique feature set, that allows operators to select designs, offers and benefits as per their individual needs. This complete digital card doesn’t need extensive communication or documentation which makes application process easier.  Moreover, users are having flexibility of selecting suitable date of billing cycle and can convert their purchases to EMI and manage easy repayments via mobile application PayZapp.  

In May 2024, renowned English author Ruskin Bond has been awarded the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Fellowship at his home, Mussoorie. Madhav Kaushik, the Sahitya Akademi president and K Sreenivasarao secretary has given plaque to Bond. He has been actively writing for over 50 years. He has written many novels, Children’s books, short stories, non-fiction and autobiographical works.

His remarkable literatures are “Once Upon a Monsoon Time”, “Vagrant in the Valley”, “All Roads Lead to Ganga”, “Too Much Trouble”, “Strangers in the Night” and “Leopard on Mountain”. Just not limited to this Bond’s historical novel “A Flight of Pigeons” had also become base for 1978 Hindi film “Junoon”.

Some of his stories were also came on Doordarshan and included in school curriculum in India. He has also awarded Sahitya Akademi Award in 1992, Padma Shri award 1999, Sahitya Akademi’s Bal Sahitya Puraskar 2012 and Padma Bhushan in 2019

Sahitya Akademi Fellowship award winners 2024

India has organized Bharat Parv for the first time in ‘77th Cannes Festival 2024’ at Cannes (France) for famous delegated and dignitaries from around the world. The Bharat Pavilion at Cannes acts as platform for engaging Indian film community in variety of activities.
