Japan has unveiled a prototype of the world’s first high speed 6G device in May 2024. This 6G device is supposed to have a data transfer rate of 100 gigabytes per seconds (Gbps). The device works 20 times faster than 5G. This uses 100 gigahertz (GHz) frequency indoor and at outdoor 300 GHz band.

The outstanding features can bring the revolution in many sectors for instance: Healthcare- remote surgeries or accessing any critical patient will be possible by means of the real time data transfer from medical devices apart from this, it will be advantageous in Artificial intelligence (by obtaining more informed decisions quickly) as well as in making additional safe and efficient transportation system

Economist Lawrence Wong has sworn in as Singapore’s fourth prime minister. Lawrence Wong will replace former Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Wong was Sworn in by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam The next big test for Wong and his ruling party will be general election which will held by November 2025 in which Wong and PAP will pursue fresh voter mandate.

As G20 will be going to held in Brazil’s presidency in 2024, the Brazilian Federal Supreme court has hosted the J-20- summit of Heads of Supreme courts and constitutional courts of G20 members.

The aim of J20 was the exchange of initiatives and ideas related to legal topics of relevance and forming a global forum for constitutional jurisdiction bodies.

The Chief Justice of India (CJI)  D. Y. Chandrachud was speaking at the J20 Summit (of heads of Supreme Courts and constitutional courts of G20 members) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Public Sector lender, State bank of India (SBI), has become the first trading-cum-clearing member (TCM) at International Bullion Exchange (IIBX) as special category clients (SCCs) to import gold via bullion exchange. By this SBI’s IFSC banking unit (IBU) is enabled for trading on IIBX platform.

On 250th Foundation Day of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilder limited (MDL) in Mumbai, it has launched ‘Arowana’ which is India’s first completely homegrown midget submarine. The occasion was presided over by Defense Secretary Giridhar Aramane.

It is designed as a fully equipped stealth platform which minimizes acoustic and electromagnetic signatures for superior secrecy of operation. To ensure that Arowana will be having formidable force in underwater warfare, various advanced technologies have been integrated such as: GPS, SONAR, top-notch communication system and Inertial Navigation System.

The Arowana like submarines are purpose-built specialized missions. It is having capacity for pilot, co-pilot and a combat swimmer team. It is designed to tackle land and Sea missions.  

The upcoming midget Submarine MS-X02A is expected to be further more advanced which will make India’s position further strong in submarine technology.

AITMC Ventures Ltd. (AVPL International), the agri-drone company, HQ- Gurugram, has announced that its recent Agriculture Drone VIRAJ has received type certification. The award is given by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). VIRAJ UAS drones are intended to be used in various applications such as; Agrochemical spraying, seed broadcasting and remote pilot training which can revolutionize the agriculture sector.

Master of the short story died

The Nobel literature prize winner Alice Munro (92), best known for her expertise in short stories has died in Ontario, Canada.  Her several short stories were adapted to film which includes 1983 Oscar-winning short “Boys and Girls” and another 2006 Oscar nominated film “Away from her”

David Salvagnini worked as chief data officer at NASA, since his joining in June 2023. Now the role of David has been expanded, as he has appointed as Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer. Here his role is especially to assure the readiness of data to transparent and responsible artificial intelligence (AI) for critical roles

For the smooth conduction of Kedarnath dham Yatra 2024 in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand, the police have started Operation Maryada.  

The team of police has urged the people coming there to behave themselves in a reverent manner to maintain the holiness of the place. For this district police team has started operation Maryada to take action against the people consuming intoxicants in Yatra halts and Dham areas.

In May 2024, Indonesia has suffered extensive damage due to the devastating floods of ‘cold lava’. This flash flood of cold lava has occurred in West Sumatra, Indonesia. Due to this, more than 52 people have died. The flow of cold lava is known as Lahar in Indonesia.

According to United States Geological Survey, cold lava can be more destructive than molten lava. Cold lava or lahar almost behaves like fast moving landslide. This phenomenon occurs while water interacts with volcanic ash and debris on volcano’s slope that creates a dense mixture flowing downhill with very high speed along with destructive power.

On 15th May 2024, at the age of 90 years, Padma Shri awardee Malti Joshi passed away at her residence in New Delhi. She was famous for her extraordinary work (storytelling) in Hindi and Marathi languages. was awarded Padma Shri in year 2018.

The 28-year-old Manika Batra has become the first Indian player to reach the top 25 rankings in the history of table tennis.

Manika has received the gold medal in individual and team categories in 2018 Commonwealth Games.

National Security Guard (NSG) and US special Operations Forces (SOF) conduct joint counter terror drills in multiple locations of Kolkata, to improve coordination, interoperability between two special forces. It is seventh edition of this joint annual counter-terrorism exercise ‘Tarkash’ with duration April 22- May 15.
