Heeramandi : The Diamond Bazaar which is Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Latest Direction and debut on OTT has fascinated the spectators with its magnificent storytelling. This reimagines 1940s period, drama illustrates the background of the Heeramandi’s red-light district in Lahore while India was struggling for Independence. This Drama boasts an imposing ensemble cast which include Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharman Segal, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Richa Chadha.
This series is celebration and at the same time lamentation for a house of courtesans, who desiring for dignity and liberty in final duration of British Raj. In that era nawabs were the chief patron of Heeramandi’s nautch girls.
Its after a very long time, 28 years Khamoshi – Manisha Koirala is returning to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s project. Also, after the success of Dahaad, Sonakshi Sinha is coming here. These two energetic women indicate the two primary poles to command over Heeramandi’s battle.
Bhansali is having ultra-impressing way of connecting the potential of the supporting cast include Farida Jalal, Shruti Sharma, Jayati Bhatia and Nivedita Bhargava.
The male cast the actors play marginal figures include Shekhar Suman who is coming on screen after a very long time and Fardeen Khan who also making a comeback after 14 year hiatus. Suman and Khan are playing the role of nawabs, who are having tawaifs of Heeramandi as mistresses with compromised relationship staggering on the edge of distrust and desire. Three other male actors are- Taha Shah, Jason Shah and Indresh Malik. Also, one of patrons of Heeramandi Adhyayan Suman, is playing the younger avtar of Shekhar Suman’s character in series.
Even before the release of ‘Heeramandi’ there was intense anticipation from it. Its trailer gathered enormous commendation and excitement from the viewers. From its debut on Netflix, there are huge enthusiastic reactions on all the social media platforms.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali disclosed his idea of Heeramandi (18 years ago), in an exclusive interview with Filmfare magazine in which, he wanted to cast Rekha, Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor Khan in lead roles.

On the other side, the Khatron ke Khiladi 11 fame, Sheezan Khan expresses his disappointment with series on social media saying that most of the actors are unable to speak proper Urdu.

Overall both reviewers and viewers are giving excellent praise to Heeramandi of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Everything of the project seems amazing including story, enormous set, to the wonderful set-ups, well lit frames, and outstanding music.
